MOGADISHU (HOL) - Somalia has put up a 24 hour call centre and two more hospitals to treat COVID19 patients as the country battles a surge in the number of citizens testing positive for the global pandemic.
The Ministry of Health said Monday the call centre staffed with a team of professionals including doctors has the capacity to handle 1000 calls in a day.
The government said the centre is expected to reinforce the existing COVID19 support teams and help in tracking suspected cases easily.Two more hospitals have been finished for use to handle COVID19 cases in the country.
Chief medical officer in charge COVID19 team Dr. Mohamed Mohamud Fuje said the two hospitals- Banadir and Yaldemeri were ready with a capacity of 200 beds.
Somalia has since recorded 164 cases of COVID19 with 21 cases confirmed Sunday.
