Mogadishu (HOL) - According to reports from the Lower Shabelle region, the deputy district commissioner of Wanlaweyn district, Mohamed Abdullahi Omar was killed on Sunday.
Initial reports say the Wanlaweyn deputy governor was killed in a grenade attack at his residence.
There are no further details on his death, but it's believed that others were injured in the attack.
Al-Shabaab has previously killed Somali government officials in the district.
In May this year, Somali National Army assassinated Al-Shabaab's tax collector in Wanlaweyn district and a group of his bodyguards.
