MOGADISHU (HOL) - Primary and Secondary schools in Somalia will reopen Saturday about four months since they were closed owing to COVID-19 spread, the Ministry of Education has said.
Education Minister Godah Barre said in a media conference Tuesday the government had put in place necessary measures to ensure learning resumes and in conformity with health measures.
“We have taken care of all the possible situations that can risk new infections during learning,” said Barre.
He added the ministry will ensure social distancing measures, use of masks and other health measures are out in place in all schools.Somalia closed education institutions in April following a spike of the COVID-19 cases in the country.
For the first time since March, Somalia recorded zero cases Monday as infections stand at 3,227 while the number of people who gave succumbed to the disease has risen to 93.
