Mogadishu (HOL) - Jubaland's State Minister for Information, Abdi Hussein Sheikh, told local media on Friday afternoon that an offensive attack against Al-Shabaab fighters in Middle Juba that was conducted earlier in the day has caused significant damage to Al-Shabaab.

According to the Minister, Jubaland forces, and her allies carried out the attack. Without providing many details, the minister announced that the mission's objective's have been achieved.

The shelling happened in the Buale district in Middle Jubba, an area that is under control of Al-Shabaab. The town's location on the banks of the southern Jubba River makes it ideal for farming.

Abdi Hussein Sheikh added that no civilians were harmed during the operation.

There are no independent sources to verify the claims. Previous offensive bombings in Somalia carried out by security forces have resulted in the deaths and injuries of civilians that were either omitted or under-reported for months.
