BERLIN (HOL) - A well-know Somali singer Abdi Ali Ba'alwan has died in Germany last night after a long illness.
The singer who has been in a critical condition for the past few weeks was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mainz town, Germany. The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed.
Somali government has extended condolences to the family and relatives of the late musician saying he had played very important role in the country's art of music.
Ba'alwan who joined the music atmosphere in 1965 was also composer.
He was one of the pillars of the Waberi band in 1980s and sung numerous love songs and patriotism.
He was born in Wardher in the Somali region of Ethiopia but moved to Somalia at tender age.
