MOGADISHU (HOL) - Security agencies in Bala’d town have arrested a suspected Al-Shabaab operative who disguised himself as a woman with intend of carrying out attacks in the town.
Security officials in the Middle Shabelle town told journalists the man was nabbed following a tip-off from the public.
“The man was dressed like a woman and was hiding in the area,” police said in a statement adding they suspected him to be an Al-Shabaab militant.
The arrest of the suspect militant comes barely a week after a federal MP Mohamed Siyad was abducted and later killed by Al-Shabaab.
The lawmaker was traveling to Mogadishu when he car was stopped and he was whisked away.
The Al-Qaeda allied militants later claimed to have killed the lawmaker.
