President of Galmudug, Ahmed Abdi Kariye (L) and the President of Puntland, Said Abdullahi Deni (R) meet in Galkayo on Friday June, 6, 2020 for talks ahead of the National Security Council meeting.
Galkayo (HOL) - Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni met with his Galmudug counterpart Ahmed Abdi Kariye on Friday.
It is the first meeting between the two presidents. Although the two presidents remained tight-lipped on the details of the meeting, they are both preparing to attend the National Security Council (NSC) meeting with other leaders of federal member states. The NSC will be meeting for the first time in nearly two years.
Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye had earlier said that he was working to bring the federal government and its member states together.
The two regional leaders are expected to talk about strengthening security with a joint operation.
