FILE - 2019 Gala
Join us for an inspiring evening hosted by the Somali Hope Foundation to support the education of underprivileged youth in Somalia.
The Somali Hope Foundation Gala is an annual event that raises awareness about the Foundation, updates patrons on the progress of the Hope Academy Schools, and does fundraising to help support the $80,000 operating costs for the schools.
The event will feature speakers, a video presentation of the school, an online auction, and exciting updates about the progress of the Foundation and our students.
Our keynote address will be delivered by Sabrina Dhowre Elba, a Somali-Canadian, UN Goodwill Ambassador, model, and former Miss Vancouver.
The theme for this year’s Gala is “Honouring Achievements While Unveiling Our Future”. This is reflective of the accomplishments achieved over the past decade. The collective support has resulted in substantial positive impacts to children, families and their communities in rural Somalia.
Hope Primary School, Middle School, and High School exist thanks to the support of individuals, groups, organizations and businesses. Since 2008, free education and programs such as breakfast and lunch programs, healthcare and more have been offered to 688 underprivileged children (305 girls and 383 boys), including orphans, who would otherwise have no education. This year we expect about 100 new students. Your support makes this initiative possible.
