BAIDOA (HOL) - At least four people were killed and 23 others injured Sunday in a bomb explosion in Baidoa, southwestern Somalia during Eid celebrations.
Sources in the town which serves as the interim capital of South West State said the attack targeted people at an internally displaced persons camp who were holding celebrations to mark the Eid festive.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility but the militant group Al-Shabaab has conducted such attacks.
Doctors at a local hospital said most of those who were injured had been released as they sustained minor injuries.
The Ramadan period has been relatively peaceful in Somalia with no major attacks especially in the capital Mogadishu which has in the past suffered bloodshed during Ramadan.
