MOGADISHU (HOL) - Somalia’s head of immigration Mohamed Kofi has survived a bomb attack targeting his car in Mogadishu. Two civilians were killed and his bodyguards injured according to medical sources.
Sources said the bomb explosion at the junction of KM4 involved the vehicle of the immigration boss Tuesday night.
Kofi was not harmed in the blast which comes as the country prepares for elections.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack but the militant group Al-Shabaab has conducted such several attacks in the past.
The attack comes barely two months into elections set to commence at the beginning of December culminating in the election of a new president in the first week of February.
