MOGADISHU (HOL) - Parliament will today debate the approval of newly appointed Prime Minister Mohamed Roble in a special sitting.
The Lower House of the Federal Parliament is expected to endorse the new PM following a meeting between President Mohamed Farmaajo and House speakers Tuesday in Mogadishu.
The approval will pay way for the appointment of a new cabinet which will also require parliamentary approval.
President Farmaajo is expected to pitch for Roble’s approval in address to the House as he seeks to put into place a new government following the ouster of former prime minister Hassan Khaire last month.
Acting prime minister Mahdi Guleid announced Tuesday the formation of a handover committee that will see the current cabinet end its tenure and hand over to a new administration.
Key in the prime minister’s in-tray will be preparing the country for elections and overseeing the transition.
