Mogadishu (HOL) - The district commissioner of Hamar Jajab district in the Banadir region, Mohamed Abdi Hayle, has been killed in an attack on his way to his house in the Sarkusta neighbourhood on the outskirts of the capital, Mogadishu.
Gunmen armed travelling in a Bajaj (Tuk-tuk) were behind the killing of Hamar Jajab district commissioner, according to police spokesman Sadiq Doodishe who confirmed the killing. Doodishe added that Hayle was killed by suspected Al-Shabab fighters.
Hayle had been the district commissioner for Hamar Jabjab, a section of the city that contains the Port of Mogadishu.
He is the second governor to be killed in Mogadishu this year. Abdihakim Dhagajuun, the District Commissioner of Hodan, was killed in January by government security forces at a junction between Howlwadag and Warta Nabada district.
