BOSASO (HOL) - Heavy fighting between the forces allied to President Saed Abdullahi Deni and a section of the Puntland Security Forces has reignited this morning in Somalia's port city of Bosaso.
According to multiple sources in the town, the fighting flared up at 5 am local time as sporadic gunfire could be heard near the headquarters of Puntland Security Forces and the presidential palace in the Ridwaan neighbourhood.
Many parts of the city remain complete shutdown with hundreds of the town’s residents fleeing their homes.
The clashes between the rival regional forces began on Tuesday after forces allied to Deni fired at positions held by PSF forces loyal to sacked commandant Mohamed Diyano sparking a heavy exchange of fire between the two sides.
