BOSASO (HOL) - Security forces in Puntland have seized bomb-making materials, thwarting a potential terror attack in the state.
The state police force said the materials included cables, containers among an assortment of bomb-making ingredients, were intercepted Wednesday.
The explosives-making materials were destined for an attack in the port city of Bosaso, police said.
The specific target of the attack was not, however, immediately clear. The militant groups Al-Shabaab and ISIS have conducted several raids in Bosaso in recent years.
The material's seizure comes barely a day after a US naval ship intercepted a cache of weapons in the high seas destined for Somalia.
Al-Shabaab has intensified attacks in recent weeks as Somalia prepares to hold presidential and parliamentary elections.
