London (HOL) - Somalia's Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble met with his UK counterpart, Boris Johnson, in London on Thursday during the Global Education Summit.
The two-day summit aimed to raise US$5 billion for the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), which funds public education in 90 of the poorest countries. These countries are home to more than 80 percent of the world's out-of-school children.
The summit fell short of the lofty goal, missing its target by $1bn (£716m).
The two leaders discussed how to increase access to education for young girls in Somalia and how the UK could support that endeavour.
They also discussed Somalia's security situation, and Boris Johnson said the UK was committed to Somalia's stability and economic development.
