MOGADISHU (HOL) - The signing ceremony of the electoral agreement between the Federal Government and regional governments is set to commence in Mogadishu shortly.
Various leaders among them lawmakers, civil society groups among other stakeholders have already gathered at the airforce hangar located at the Aden Adde Airport compound.
President Mohamed Farmaajo and Federal Member State presidents alongside representatives of the international community are yet to arrive.
Former presidents Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Sharif Sheikh Ahmed have been meeting with Senate speaker Abdi Hashi whom reports said has accepted to take part in the signing ceremony following an earlier fall out with the Federal Government.
Hashi had protested the allocation of only five slots in the appointment of the electoral teams for Somaliland at the regional and federal level.
The signing ceremony today concludes a key milestone in the much delayed elections in Somalia.
The talks led by Prime Minister Mohamed Roble concluded yesterday with the adoption of key recommendations proposed earlier by the technical Committee which met in February in Baidoa.
The deal will present a roadmap on elections timetable, the polling stations, security of the elections and the appointments of the state and federal level election teams.
