MOGADISHU (HOL) - Acting National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) boss Yasin Abdullahi Farey has been elected MP in Galmudug.
Farey got 65 votes while his opponent Mohamed Ali Ulusow garnered 20 votes. Three votes were spoiled. Each MP is elected by 101 delegates.
Farey was appointed in late October to lead the intelligence agency in acting capacity following the controversial sacking of his predecessor Fahad Yasin.
The election of Farey comes amid complaints by clan elders rejecting his candidature on grounds that he was being fronted by Villa Somalia.
Election for the remaining second seat of the day is underway.
