MOGADISHU (HOL) - Jubbaland parliament will be voting in the last four senators on Thursday, nearly three months after the exercise began.
Out of the four seats up for contest today, two will be battled out by women only as part of the 30% women quota requirement.
The first seat in today's election in Kismayo will be contested by Leyla Nur Maax and Haredo Mohamed Sheikh, while the second seat will be challenged by Ibrahim Owgab Osman and Farhiya Moalim Abdi.
Maryan Farah Kadiye and Samsam Mohamed Bishar will face-off for the third, while Hassan Dahir Yarow and Abdi Hussein Ali will run for the fourth and final seat in Jubbaland's senatorial election.
Jubbaland was the first to elect senators on July 29 but took a long break before resuming the exercise.
Candidates will have the opportunity to address the Jubbaland State Parliament before the voting commences.
Security in Kismayo has been beefed up with heavily-armed patrols on the city's main roads.
Upon conclusion of today's exercise, Galmudug will be the only state remaining to fill up all eight seats. The central Somalia state has elected six senators.
