Turkey conveyed condolences to Somalia over Tuesday’s deadly terror attack in the capital Mogadishu.
“We are saddened to receive the news that at least 10 people lost their lives and many were injured in a bomb blast which took place on Sept. 14 in Wadajir district in Mogadishu, Somalia,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
A suicide bomber blew himself up at a tea shop in Mogadishu on Tuesday evening, killing 10 people and injuring several others, mostly civilians, according to Somali authorities.
One of the wounded later died in hospital, raising the death toll in the attack claimed by the al-Shabaab terror group to 11.
“We strongly condemn this heinous terrorist attack and extend our condolences to the friendly and brotherly people and Government of Somalia. We wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the injured,” read the statement.
“Turkey will continue to stand by Somalia in its fight against terrorism.”
