MOGADISHU (HOL) - Outgoing senate speaker Abdi Hashi has been re-elected as senator for Somaliland in the ongoing voting in Mogadishu.
Senator Hashi who was contesting with Said Omar Hussein, got 44 out of the possible 46 seats. Two votes got spoilt while his opponent did not receive any vote.
Senator Hashi becomes the first senator-elect for Somaliland. Voting is currently underway for the remaining five seats for today.
Somaliland, like Puntland, is allocated 11 seats while all other Federal Member States get eight.
