Former general Jama Mohamed Ghalib passes away in Djibouti

Mogadishu (HOL) - Former Somali Police Force commissioner retired general Jama Mohamed Ghalib passed away in Djibouti City on Tuesday.

According to reports, he dies of a heart attack. He has recently been a lecturer at the Somali National University camps in Mogadishu.

Jama Mohamed Ghalib was born in 1933 in Dhoodi-gaban area of the Sanaag region. 

He joined the police in April 1955, and later in February 1970, he was appointed Commander of the Somali Police Force.

In May 1962, Jama Mohamed Ghalib was appointed Head of Somali Intelligence and National Security.

He is the author of 'The cost of dictatorship: The Somali experience'' where he describes the erosion of human rights in Siad Barre's Somalia.
