BELEDWEYNE (HOL) - Somalia's National Security Advisor Fahad Yasin was in Sunday elected MP in Beletweyne joining a growing list of intelligence officials who are now heading to Parliament.
Fahad got 70 votes while his only opponent Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed got 25 votes.
The elections conducted at Ugaas Khalif Airport in Beletweyne came a day after a deadly bomb attack that claimed over ten lives in the city.
The Federal Indirect Elections Team had yesterday directed the State Indirect Elections Team (SIET) to suspend the elections but that order seemed to have gone unheeded as the elections went ahead.
Fahad now joins his predecessor at the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Yasin Farey who was elected early this month in Galmudug.
NISA political affairs director Abdullahi Kulane gas also been elected MP in Galmudug.
