Ohio United win 2022 Somali Soccer Week tournament

Toronto (HOL) - Ohio United has been crowned the winners of the 2022 Somali Soccer Week Tournament after defeating Minneapolis Midnimo FC on Sunday night at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto, Canada.
It was the first time the tournament was held in two years due to the global pandemic.
Ohio United came back from two goals down in the first half to mount an improbable comeback and win in penalty shootouts.
Fans filled Centennial Park's 2,500-capacity stadium to the brim and were entertained by a halftime performance by famed Somali singer Nimcaan Hilaac.
Seif FC's Suhaib Mohamed won this year's Golden Boot trophy for most goals in the tournament.
The tournament is hosted by the Toronto Development Association of Youth (TODAY.
Over a dozen teams from around the global Somalia diaspora participated in the 30th annual TODAY Somali Soccer Week tournament, with teams coming from as far as the UK.
Past winners include Banadir FC, Minnesota Tigers, and Hilaac FC.
Somali Week' was first held 32 years by a group of Somali sportsmen who fled the civil war and wanted to reunite through athletics. The inaugural tournament in 1990 hosted teams mainly from Toronto and Washington DC.
