According to reports, Warsame Ismail Abdi was killed by a group of gunmen near his home in Bar Ubax village in Mogadishu's Hodan district while he was on his way to work.
Reports added that Warsame Ismail Abdi was among the electoral delegates who participated in the election of the parliamentary seat won by the new director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Mahad Mohamed Salad.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack, but Al-Shabaab vowed to target those involved in elections in the past.
Somali police forces arrived at the murder scene after the killing and collected Gedi's body, although no one was arrested. In mid-April, Yusuf Dahir Kheyre, a well-known peace activist in Mogadishu and former electoral delegate, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Mogadishu's Hodan district.
