Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud's health is in "very good condition" after being diagnosed with Covid-19, according to his spokesman, Abdikarin Ali Kaar.
During a press briefing in Mogadishu, Kaar said the President's health was excellent, adding that he does not feel any significant symptoms of the virus.
President Mohamud is still isolated and undergoing continual medical examination, but Kaar said that the President was continuing with his typical daily workload.
President Mohamud said on Friday he had tested positive for COVID-19 and was in self-isolation after returning to Somalia from a state visit to the United Arab Emirates.
Members of the Somali President's delegation also reportedly tested positive and were quarantined in Dubai.
According to the health ministry, Somalia has registered 26,748 COVID-19 total cases and 1,361 deaths since the onset of the pandemic.
Kaar also said that the government would be scaling down its Independence Day ceremonies and rerouting the money to assist with the ongoing drought relief efforts.
