BELEDWEYNE (HOL) - Elections went ahead in Beletweyne today despite series of bomb attacks that killed serving and former MPs.
Former Security Minister Abdirizak Omar retained his seat after garnering 56 votes out of the possible 101.
The exercise started off in the afternoon a few hours after the body of deceased MP Amina Mohamed was flown to Mogadishu for prayers.
The lawmaker died after a suicide bomber jumped unto her car while she was on campaigns in Beletweyne Town killing her on the spot.
Another former MP Ali Abdi Dhuhul was killed in a separate attack.
