Soldier shot dead in Beledweyne, murderer escapes

    Mogadishu (HOL) - Armed men in Beledweyne shot dead a soldier on Friday night before making their escape. It was the second time this week that such a murder occured. 

    The soldier, Shute Abdullah Elmi, was well-known in the town. 

    His assailants fled the scene immediately after the slaying.

    Somali government forces arrived at the murder scene and began their investigation, but no arrests were made.

    Two nights ago, a teenager was killed in Dhagah-Jibis neighbourhood. That murder is also unsolved. 

    Local and regional officials have yet to comment on the latest string of unsolved murders in the city.
