Baidoa (HOL) - A delegation led by Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Baidoa for talks with the leaders of the Southwest state government on Tuesday.
President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen and other state officials greeted the president and his delegation at Shati Gudud airport, which included the commander of the Somali National Army, members of both chambers of parliament, and other authorities.
The president will meet separately with state President Laftagareen, senior state officials, and traditional leaders to discuss political stability and how the federal government can work with the regional government.
Southwest has a 77-member legislature, most of whom appear to be united and support Southwest President Laftagareen.
Mohamud's visit to Badioa is part of his first visit to regional states ahead of his inauguration ceremony in Mogadishu next month. In the following days, Mohamud is anticipated to visit Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug state.
