Mogadishu (HOL) - The Standing Committee of Somalia's Lower House Parliament held its meeting for the first time in Garowe, the administrative capital of Puntland regional state, on Thursday.
Lower House speaker Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, who was chairing the meeting, emphasized the committee’s pleasure at holding the meeting outside Somalia's capital for the first time.
"There is a lot of pressure on us in our parliament building to finish the tasks assigned to us in such a short period," stated the speaker.
Speaker Adan Madobe indicated that their arrival in Garowe was part of a plan for the standing committee to hold its meetings in the regional government capitals.
The parliamentary standing committee will meet in Garowe for the next seven days before the opening of the second session of the People's Assembly.
The Lower House session will re-opened on November 15.
