Mogadishu (HOL) - A delegation led by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Egypt on Sunday night to attend the world climate change summit in Sharma Sheikh town in Egypt.
Egyptian government officials welcomed the delegation warmly in Sharma Sheikh town last night.
President Mohamud and Somali climate experts will present the strong impact of climate change on the Somali government and its people at the COP-27 Summit.
The President will also discuss the government's plans for responding to drought, erosion, and flooding.Somalia has faced extreme droughts in recent years, bringing the country to the brink of famine. It was ranked as the country most vulnerable to climate disaster but receives less than a dollar per person in climate change adaptation funding.
World leaders first began meeting annually to discuss the climate crisis in 1992.
