Police in Nairobi on Tuesday morning, October 11 shot dead a man who allegedly attempted to rob cash from Equity Bank in Nairobi West.
According to authorities, the man was armed with a kitchen knife.
The suspect allegedly harmed a customer and a security guard during the 9am incident.Police said the man was, consequently, gunned down by one of the officers who had escorted G4S personnel to the bank.
“He stabbed a customer and a security guard before attempting to grab cash brought by the G4S personnel. It was then that a police officer, who had escorted the G4S personnel, shot the suspect, killing him on the spot,” a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer probing the matter told The Standard in confidence.
No cash was stolen during the morning incident.
The body of the suspect was taken to City Mortuary, pending identification and postmortem.
