Monday October 24, 2022

Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali military court executed two men after they were convicted of being members of the al Shabab.

A firing squad shot Shuaib Abdullahi Mohamed and Sadaq Abdi Jabar Omar in Mogadishu on Monday morning.

According to the court, the two men, who went by the aliases Ahmed and Qono, have been active members of al Shabaab since 2014.

Deputy prosecutor, Mumin Hussein Abdullahi, told the media that Shuaib Abdullahi was found guilty of killing a soldier named Hussein Moalim Ali Jilaow along with police officers Yusuf Abdullahi Mohamed, Abdullahi Ibrahim Hassan and Abdi Ali Mohamud.

Mumin added that the co-defendant Sadaq Abdi was found guilty of killing a soldier named Mohamed Hassan Ibrahim.

The execution comes two days after a military court executed Ahmed Abdullahi Abdi, a former government soldier, for killing former Somali Cabinet Minister of Public Works and Reconstruction Abbas Abdullahi Sheikh Siraji in Somalia's capital on May 2017.
