Mogadishu (HOL) - A government soldier and a young girl were wounded after suspected al Shabab militants threw hand grenades at a security checkpoint in the Bundaweyn neighbourhood in Beledweyne on Sunday evening.
According to an eyewitness, the girl was injured after a blast hit her front gate, which was located next to a checkpoint.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack, but security officials blamed al Shabab.
At least three police officers, including mine sweepers, were injured after their vehicle hit a roadside bomb on the road leading to Ugaas Khalif airport in Beledweyne on Sunday.
