Mogadishu (HOL - President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia arrived in Addis Ababa on Friday for a two-day official working visit.
According to a statement from Villa Somalia, President Mohamud is scheduled to hold meetings with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Italy's President Giorgia Meloni, who is also on an official state visit to Ethiopia.
Upon his arrival, President Mohamud was received by Adem Farah, Vice-President of Abiy Ahmed's Prosperity Party, and Ambassador Mesganu Arega, Ethiopia's State Minister of Foreign Affairs.
This trip marks President Mohamud's third visit to Addis Ababa since his election approximately one year ago. The two leaders last met in Mogadishu in early February during a defence summit, discussing strategies to defeat the extremist group Al Shabaab.
Following the summit, the Horn of Africa leaders agreed on a joint "search and destroy" operation aimed at dislodging Al Shabaab from population centers in central and southern Somalia. The objective of this collaborative effort is to enhance regional security and stability.
