Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre met with the UK Ambassador to Somalia, Michael Nithavrianakis, at his office in Mogadishu on Monday.
During their meeting, Prime Minister Hamza and Ambassador Nithavrianakis delved into issues related to the bilateral relations between the two countries, focusing on the latest developments in Somalia's security and political landscape.
The Prime Minister emphasized the government's comprehensive plan for the country's liberation, underlining the required support for the stabilization program in areas liberated from al-Shabab. Additionally, they discussed expediting development projects backed by the UK in Somalia, spanning development, aid, and security.
The UK stands as one of Somalia's primary development partners.On Sunday, Somali Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre announced the commencement of the second phase of the anti-al Shabab operation in the country. Prime Minister Barre stated that the operation against al-Shabaab in Galmudug and Hirshabelle States would conclude shortly, with the subsequent operation slated for Jubbaland and the South West regions.
