Somali President appoints Abdihakim Mohamed as new chief of staff

    Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud appointed Abdihakim Mohamed Yusuf as his office's new Chief of Staff on Friday to replace Hussein Sheikh Mahmoud, who stepped down last Sunday.

    Abdihakim previously served as the political advisor to the president and has amassed over two decades of experience in government institution development.

    Hussein Sheikh Mahmoud has tendered his resignation, emphasizing the imperative for effective leadership to navigate the challenges confronting the Southwest regional state.

    Political analysts speculate that Mahmoud's resignation might be a strategic move in anticipation of his candidacy for the position of President of the Southwest Regional State in the upcoming regional election.
