South West State sacks Barawe district commissioner and his deputy

    Baidoa (HOL) - The Ministry of Internal Affairs for South West Regional State has fired Barawe district commissioner Liiban Abukar Osman and his Deputy, Ms. Sahro Abukar Ali.

    In an announcement on Sunday, the Ministry stated that dismissing the commissioner stemmed from his failure to cooperate effectively with the Barawe district council and its administration.

    The removal followed a recent district council motion to oust the commissioner and his deputy. The Ministry of Interior has temporarily appointed Omar Sheikh Abdi Shafana as the commissioner of Barawe District.

    Over the past few months, the city has been mired in conflict between the administration and the governor. Accusations have been directed at the governor, suggesting that he has curtailed the administration's authority and dismissed the allegations against him.
