Grand ‎Imam of Al-Azhar
HE Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, received Thursday Sheikh Yusuf Ali Aynte, Chairperson of the Somali Scholars Association (SSA) at Al-Azhar Headquarters.
The meeting ddiscussed ays to enhance Al-Azhar’s academic and Da’wah support for the Somali people.
The Grand Imam affirmed Al-Azhar’s continued support for Somalia, and its full solidarity with the Somali people in face of the crises and challenges they were facing.
Al-Tayyeb pointed out that Al-Azhar hosts approximately 1,200 Somali students at both Al-Azhar university and Al-Azhar institutes, knowing that it offers 70 free scholarships annually to Somali students at various educational stages in Al-Azhar.
He also expressed Al-Azhar’s willingness to increase the number of these scholarships in support of Somalia, in a way that contributes to the elimination of internal challenges and the stability of the Somali society.
For his part, Sheikh Aynte expressed his pleasure to meet the Grand Imam and his appreciation of the great support provided by Al-Azhar to the members of the Muslim nation, especially the Somalis.
He added that the Somalis take pride in Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, being the destination for all knowledge seekers and scholars, and they are keen to enroll in it and acquire knowledge from its authentic sources.
Sheikh Aynte also noted that Al-Azhar is a great source of pride for the entire Muslim nation, due to its educational approach that is distinguished by integrity and moderation.
