Building collapse kills three people in Mogadishu

    Mogadishu (HOL) - A mother and her two daughters were killed in a building collapse in Mogadishu on Wednesday night, rescue team says.

    A seven-story apartment building collapsed onto a four-story building still under construction. This unfortunate event resulted in both structures falling onto a residential house where the family resided.

    The Emergency team of the Banadir region swiftly managed to rescue two people from the affected house.

    Following the incident, the Governor of Banadir Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu, Yusuf Hussein Jimale Madaale, visited the site and directed the district administration and security officials to initiate a thorough investigation into the cause behind the collapse of the building.

    Concerns among the residents have been mounting due to the proliferation of high-rise buildings in Mogadishu, many of which are constructed by engineers who fail to adhere to government regulations.
