Garowe (HOL) -An ISIS-Somalia fighter, Abdullahi Hadeed Ali Mire, surrendered to Puntland security forces in the Bari region on Friday.
According to a statement issued by the PSF command, the man surrendered to security forces near Balihidhin village in the Bari region.
Mire disavowed the Islamic State militants and publicly declared his defection.
The Puntland Security Forces (PSF) have called on all members of the Daesh and Al-Shabaab groups to surrender and will be welcomed.
Mire's surrender comes barely a week after Bilal al-Sudani, an ISIS leader, was
killed in a U.S. airstrike in northern Somalia.
Al-Sudani, an important Islamic State financial facilitator, was
killed near the Cal Miskaad mountains, a long-time militant hideout east of Bosaso, Puntland.
The U.S. said ten other terrorist operatives were also killed in the operation. The Pentagon claimed that no civilians were injured or killed in the airstrike.
