Saturday January 14, 2023

Mogadishu (HOL) - National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) arrested a woman whose home was storing weapons and explosives.

The security operation took place in the Dharkenley district of Mogadishu on Friday night. According to security officials, the woman is being investigated and will be brought to court.

In contrast, following a security operation on Friday night, police officers displayed two men suspected of robbing residents of Mogadishu's Howlwadag district.

Furthermore, police also arrested two drug dealers in the Elasha Biyaha area on the outskirts of Mogadishu.

On Friday, Mogadishu's deputy mayor for security and politics, Mohamed Ahmed Diriye Yabooh, announced that security forces would begin a house-to-house search for al-Shabaab members hiding in Mogadishu.

"The people of the Banadir region should be prepared that every house will be searched so that the Khawariij (renegades) who are attempting to live among us will no longer be able to do so," said Mohamed Ahmed Diriye.

The deputy mayor of Mogadishu urged residents to cooperate with security forces and see no problem with the house-to-house search operations that will soon begin.

The mayor's statement comes just days after President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud called ordinary people to help flush out members of the al-Shabaab extremist group he described as "bedbugs."

He called Mogadishu residents to flush out the militants among them.
