(HOL) — The Shabelle River, traversing through Baledweyne's neighborhoods, has begun to breach its banks, affecting several areas of the city.
Significant flooding occurred this afternoon in parts of the Kooshin and Xaawa Taako neighborhoods, notably around Raadeerka, Kutiimbo, Dhagaxjibis, and Shaah Macaan.
Residents of the neighborhoods impacted by today's Shabelle River flood have experienced considerable displacement in recent days. The flood, long feared, has now forced many from their homes.
Concerns are mounting that the river might soon inundate parts of the Bundaweyn and Howlwadaag neighborhoods.
This recent flooding aligns with a widespread evacuation from Baledweyne's neighborhoods, with most residents seeking refuge in the Ceeljaalle neighborhood on Baledweyne's outskirts.
