Mogadishu (HOL) - Several rounds of mortar shells landed in the districts of Kaxda, Wadijir, and Dharkeenley in Mogadishu on Sunday morning, resulting in unknown casualties, residents say.
According to residents, some of these shells hit Tarabush, a slum village in the Wadajir district. The police have not commented on the casualties from the mortar attack.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group al-Shabaab usually claims mortar attacks in Mogadishu.
The mortar attack occurred just two days after a suicide bomber from al-Shabab detonated himself at a busy restaurant in the Somali capital of Mogadishu, where he killed five people and others wounded.
The terror group has increased attacks since the Somali president, who was elected for a second term last year, declared an "all-out war" on al-Shabaab.
