MOGADISHU (HOL) — Hodan District Commissioner Ali Fahle has issued a directive banning boys and girls from attending nighttime gatherings and ordering local hotels and restaurants to cease nightclub-like operations.

Fahle emphasized his commitment to maintaining decorum in Hodan's hospitality establishments. "Nighttime fraternizing at district hotels and restaurants among dating youths is prohibited. No establishments will operate past midnight," he stated.

He also called on local business owners to secure their properties. "Our district's aesthetics have been enhanced by interlocking brick roads, but the absence of trees contributes to undesirable heat levels. Each business owner must take responsibility for maintaining the greenery outside their venues," Fahle added.

This policy aligns with a broader initiative by the Banadir Regional Administration, which recently banned hotels and restaurants in Mogadishu from operating after midnight.

City officials have intensified enforcement against actions they deem "immoral" in the past, including late-night gatherings in private settings. Mogadishu Mayor Yusuf Hussein Jimale, commonly known as Madaale, drew attention last year when he was recorded caning young men and women at a lounge on Liido Beach late at night. Madaale defended his actions, stating the area was notorious for illegal drug activity, and the raid resulted in multiple arrests.
