Nairobi (HOL) - Former Jubaland Security Minister Abdirashid Janan has reportedly been missing in Nairobi, Kenya, for the past seven days, according to family members.
Jubbaland State Minister of Security, Yusuf Hussein Osman Dhumaal, has urged the Kenyan government's security agencies to provide information on Minister Janan's whereabouts and status.
"The Kenyan government, especially its security agencies, should identify the location of Minister Janan, who has been missing in Nairobi for days," emphasized Minister Dhumal.
Ugas Mohamed Ugas Ahmed, the traditional elder of the Marehan clan, also called on the Kenyan government to take official action to locate and safeguard Abdirashid. He stressed that the Kenyan government bears the responsibility of protecting the lives and property of Somali people within its territory.
In 2021, Abdirashid Janan, who had previously conflicted with the federal government, surrendered to the central government following an agreement with Mogadishu. However, several months later, he became embroiled in a conflict with federal government leaders and joined the opposition. Recently, he was reported to be residing in Kenya.
