Mogadishu (HOL) — EgyptAir will launch its inaugural Cairo to Mogadishu flights on Friday, marking a significant step in the airline’s strategic expansion into East Africa.
Flight MS873 will depart from Cairo at 6:30 AM local time, with a stopover in Djibouti, before continuing to Mogadishu. The Egyptian national carrier will operate biweekly flights on this new route, enhancing connectivity between Cairo and Mogadishu and facilitating greater economic and diplomatic engagement between Egypt and Somalia.
EgyptAir’s decision to introduce direct flights to Mogadishu is part of a broader effort to boost its international travel network, which also includes new routes to Abidjan and Djibouti.
The new route is expected to bolster economic relations by promoting trade, tourism, and investment opportunities between Egypt and Somalia. Additionally, it reflects the growing diplomatic ties between the two countries.
