Dhusamareb (HOL) - Somali security forces, supported by local clan militia, killed seven al-Shabab militants near the Eldher district in Galmudug State following a joint anti-al-Shabab operation.
The military operation took place in the area of Ali Cadhole, approximately 33 km north of Eldher, on Monday, where the militants were killed, and others were wounded.
The commander of the 24th Brigade, Khalid Binu-Walid, Major Mohamed Dhegaweyne, told local media that the joint forces seized army weaponry during the operation.
"The army received an intelligence tip-off that the group was secretly present at the site of the attack. They conducted a successful operation and displayed the dead bodies of the militants, including the leader of the group in the area," he said.
Two months ago, at least 70 al-Shabaab terrorists were killed and 30 others wounded in a military operation in Somalia's northern Mudug region. The operation occurred in the vicinity of Tabar-more, about 28 kilometres (17 miles) north of the recently liberated coastal town of Harardhere.
