MOGADISHU (HOL) — Mohamed Abukar Zubair, the Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, announced his resignation on Sunday, marking a significant shift within the Somali government's administrative structure. His resignation comes amid rumours of imminent reshuffles within the government, particularly affecting the Council of Ministers and Directors.
In his official resignation letter, Zubair emphasized that his decision was made independently, without "external pressures or dissatisfaction." He expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre for the opportunities provided during his tenure and acknowledged the Prime Minister's dedication to national development. "Your visionary leadership has been a source of inspiration," Zubair stated in his letter.
The resignation is part of broader changes speculated within the Somali government, as reports suggest more resignations could follow in critical positions. Zubair thanked various stakeholders for their support, including federal agencies and member states and committed to aiding in a smooth transition.
