Somali President meets his Eritrean counterpart in Asmara

    Mogadishu (HOL)  - Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with his Eritrean counterpart, Isaias Afwerki, in Asmara on Monday.

    The two Presidents discussed bilateral relations between their nations and other issues in the Horn of Africa and globally. President Mohamud also discussed the Somali government's latest victory in the fight against al-Shabab and its efforts to intensify military operations.

    However, the two government officials did not provide further details about the other topics discussed during the meeting.

    This visit coincides with an ongoing military training program for Somali soldiers in Eritrea, highlighting the defence collaboration between Somalia and Eritrea.

    The training program has already facilitated the return of trained Somali military personnel.
