Beledweyne (HOL) - Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, alongside Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre and former government leaders, congratulated Ugas Yusuf Ugas Hassan Ugas Khalif, who was inaugurated in the Hiiraan region on Monday.
Ugas Yusuf became the 21st chief of the Hawadle clans.
Villa Somalia released a statement urging the elder to continue the traditional legacy, emphasizing that his government prioritized cultural issues, reconciliation, and the protection of the unity of the Somali people.
Former Presidents Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, ex-Prime Ministers Hassan Ali Kheire, Mohamed Hussein Roble, and other politicians also congratulated Ugas Yusuf Ugas Hassan, highlighting the role of clan elders in promoting peace and integrity in the communities.
Hundreds of people, including senior federal and regional leaders and traditional elders, attended the ceremony held in the Dara Ugas neighborhood, located on the outskirts of the Halgan district on Monday.
However, the chief and his delegation returned to Beledweyne, the administrative capital of the Hiiraan region, where he will work and reside.
